Music Video-elaborate checklist.

The following elements are all taken from the schedule. I’ve compiled them in one place with a few extra notes to help you all out.

• Detailed analysis of music videos (at least 3) including conventions and genre categories e.g. illustration, amplification and disjuncture. This is really important. You need to analyse 3 videos in great detail. You should also include other videos that have influenced you. This would be the appropriate opportunity to use tubechop.
• Mood boards (e.g. animoto). Making the mood board on animoto will add an extra element to it. Make sure the song you add to the animoto is the song you are making the video for.
• Examples of other texts. This has been mentioned in the first bullet point. It’s worth stressing that you need to show an awareness of other videos and the impact they have had on you.
• Audience profile and conduct market research. Construct a profile of your target audience. Show people your idea and record and post reactions/ criticisms etc
• 25 word pitch. Post the film of your pitch onto your blog.
• Refer to music video theory. You will do this in relation to the 3 video analyses. You can also investigate the theory a bit more with your own independent research.
• Evaluate class feedback (will be essential for your evaluation). Post the reaction to your pitch.
• Add a mixpod playlist to enhance your blog. Ideally it will include tracks in the similar genre or tracks that you refer to in your blog.
• Make your blog look as interesting as possible. Add a suitable theme and play with the colours and fonts to come up with a design that fits.
• Add images to each post to illustrate them.
• Use as many of the following as possible: slideshare, tubechop, scribd, animoto. mixpod, soundcloud, prezi
